- Reduplicative Paramnesia: She has a slight....issue when it comes to identifying locations. Ever since her accident, she's been unable to determine if where she's at, is actually the right area, or not. It works like this: she'll be sitting in her dorm, and then all of a sudden, look around and decide that she is indeed not in her dorm, but somewhere else that looks exactly like her room while not being that. That, or she'll think that the entire dorm has just upped and moved so that she is no longer geographically near Stanfield (at least, not the same Stanfield she was admitted into). It's all a whole mess, and she gets extremely frustrated with the condition. Thankfully, hers is a mild case, so places don't just disappear and reappear for her too often. Only when she's really stressed, or not paying attention to the present. Needless to say, this is one girl you don't want to ask for directions from.
- Apotemnophobia: The big reason why she's landed here at Stanfield is because of this condition. She has an extremely odd need to amputate her own limbs from time to time. Although she is completely healthy physically, there are just days when she'll want to grab up the nearest bladed object and slice off her own arm or something like that. And yes, she really would do it if you left her alone with a knife for a long enough period of time. But the warning signs are pretty obvious - she starts to stare at the targeted appendage and making 'measurements' of from where to cut - so as long as there's someone else around to stop her before she starts, it's all good.
- Claustrophobia: Pretty self-explanatory; she hates, absolutely HATES, being confined to an area in which she feels crowded. And she's one of the more severe cases too. If she's trapped someplace cramped - say in an elevator - then she starts to hyperventilate and scream and cry and just have a general breakdown until someone finds her and gets her out. After an episode like that, she tends to stay wound up for another hour or so.

* / POSITIVE TRAITS[/b]
- Friendly Enough: No she's not Little-Miss-Popularity, but don't let her serious face fool you either. She's plenty nice and perfectly willing to be your friend if you want to take the time to get to know her. Just be careful how you behave around her when her Apot-phobia acts up. Try to stop her from cutting off her arm or leg and she might turn on you, at which point you can either choose to leave her be, or wait for her to calm and become friendly again.
- Quick Learner: Once she makes a mistake, you can be sure she won't make that same mistake a second time. She's not fond of having people angry with her, or feeling like she just failed something, so she remedies the situation as quick as she can.
- Patient: As long as she's not having one of her attacks when her syndromes catch up to her, then she can be, quite possibly, the most patient person ever. She doesn't mind waiting, even for hours and longer periods of time, but this could also end up as a downer.
- Soft-Spoken: Unless she's stuck somewhere like in a closet or something, Armin hardly ever raises her voice for anything, or anyone. Even if the only reason for shouting would be to get the attention of someone standing far away, she'd rather just close that distance between and speak in a normal volume to said personnel. She doesn't curse or swear or anything like that, even when extremely provoked.
- Motherly: Yes, it's true; she has a habit of taking on a mother-like role when she encounters someone who she sees as someone in need of help. Why? Most likely because she lost her brother while he was under her care, an accident she blames herself for to this day (despite her lack of control over the circumstances). So if she starts to fuss or nag? Try not to snap back; she really does mean well, even if the attention tends to get annoying quick.
* / NEGATIVE TRAITS[/b]
- Directionally -Challenged: So we already know about her Reduplicative issues. This girl wouldn't be able to tell you East or West even if she watched the sun set and rise. Navigation is not her strong point, especially since she tends to get places mixed up, or move them around in her mind when they haven't been relocated at all.
- Self-Harmer: She's not one of those cutters (she finds that habit both disturbing, and stupid, since slitting your own wrists? Doesn't accomplish much as far as she can tell), but her case is even worse than theirs. If she ever decides to cut at her own body? She cuts with no reservations. Give her a knife, wait for the right mood to set in, and she'll soon be hacking away at her legs and arms and hands. Sometimes, she'll even go for her face, or neck. The difference between her and cutters (at least, in her mind)? She does what she does to get rid of something undesirable in a body part.
- Thinks Everything's Her Fault: If you tell her that she's the reason something went wrong? Or someone's unhappy? She'll believe you, whether she was involved or not. Her mind's been wired to accept all wrongdoings as her responsibiltiy since Jesse died in front of her. This tends to make her an easy target for some who would take advantage of that attribute in her nature.
- Magpie: She may as well be, with all the shiny things that she collects and hoards in her desk drawers. Marbles, pieces of colored glass, beads; anything that sparkles in the light, she'll take and store away for her own amusement at a later date. The easiest way to get her attention? Dangle a bauble of sorts in front of her; she'll notice you right away.
- Perfectionist: Everything must be done correctly or she will have a heart attack. By done correctly, I mean the dorm - or at least her side - must be clean and orderly, her books must be in a neat stack, her clothes have to be folded just right, and heavens forbid should her i's and t's not be dotted and crossed correctly![/size][/blockquote][/blockquote]

It all started with the accident.
Armin had been twelve - Jesse 5 - when the subway malfunctioned and their train collided head-on with another train coming the opposite direction. They'd been put on board by their parents, to go pay a visit to their Aunt, who lived just a couple neighborhoods down from their home. As it wasn't all that far (not close enough for two young children to walk safely, but not far enough that a special car ride was called for), and Armin was considered old enough to care for herself and her brother, they were the only ones from their family on the train. The trip to their Aunt's was uneventful and safe; the return was not the same story.
At exactly 3:57 PM, the subway suddenly entered a state of panic as passengers were flung from their seats and against the sides of the cars-interiors, metal was folded around metal to crush anything that got caught in between, and those that were waiting to board were bombarded by flying dirt and debris. In a way, the Devaroux were lucky, as they had been sitting towards the middle of the train, so the collision did not kill them instantly as it did those who had been located at the nose. But that didn't save them from earning some devastating casualties. Jesse was torn from his sister's grip and flung out a broken window, cracking his spine against the pavement outside (even though the fall didn't kill him - amazingly enough - he would later die in the hospital from excessive interior-hemorrhaging). Armin managed to remain inside the train structure, but was knocked unconscious by another passenger as they were thrown past her.
This landed her in a year-long coma, during which - it is guessed at - the damage done to the frontal lobes of her brain began to manifest into the conditions that she has today. Once she finally woke up, her parents discovered that she was no longer right in the head (she cut off two of the fingers on her left hand after just weeks of being released), and decided to enroll her at an institute specializing in treating the mentally unstable.[/size][/blockquote][/blockquote]
