Complete darkness surrounded October's vision, but that was what she was used to. Since birth her vision has been lost, for reasons she doesn't know. Whether it was from her own genetic make-up or some other medical reason, she didn't know. It didn't matter. Blindness was still apart of her no matter the reason behind it. There was no way to change the what was there so she had adapted. It would seem like it had been hard for her to get used to the fact she couldn't see, but it was far from it. October never experienced what she was missing. All other senses helped her make her replacment sight. The only thing that made it harder was coming into a new location. Now, she was in a brand new facility to live and get diagnosed in.
The slight flapping of the curtains in her dorm room gave her barely any reassurance to the uncomfortable feeling of being in a new place. The feel of the dying wind was different to her skin, the feel of her feet against the dormitry floor. The sounds of the room mates quiet snores in their sleep did, however, gave her both an comforting and uneasy feeling. They weren't awake to see October sitting quietly in her bed, but they were strangers, people that had never been introduced to her. She had just arrived today while they were sleeping, so she hadn't even heard them speak.
"Who is there?" she whispered softly into the open air. The sound of clothing moving and a small patter against the floor had caught her attention. The small intake of breath from her speech had caught someone off guard. A small shiver erupted over her skin, the hair standing up from a temperature change. A small bubbly giggle bursted from her lips as a rush of energy filled her body. Rose's fingers picked at her bedding absentmindedly. "I can't sleep," she whined to herself in a kid like voice. "Hansen! Why won't she listen to us? I want some....milk!"
"Just leave her alone brat. Your whining is giving me a headache." Hansen then rubbed October's temples lightly, as if to get rid of the pain with the soft touch. A not so quiet huff came from her mouth in a bout of frustration. Only a few seconds later Rose spoke up again. "B-But I'm j-just tired." A tear drop fell from her right eye as her nose wrinkled up in distress. October wrapped her arms around herself and rocked back and forth on her mattress, too many thoughts going through her head at once. Then, she suddenly stopped and looked up at the girl standing up, staring at her.

Everyone in this place was completely messed up in the head. There were countless mental disorders and diseases. Reverie did not bother to keep track of most. She had met a select few in her week here. She did not enjoy the presence of all those people, but what was life without enemies to torture? The last few days had been busy for her; there was barely any sleep to be had between therapy sessions, partying, and making fun of all the freaks. After the six days that had been spent here, tonight her body had finally demanded sleep. She passed out early in the evening, and so far she had not meet any of her roommates. This was appreciated. Not one hint of excitement flickered through her mind at the thought of socializing with the people she would have to sleep near.
Craving for a cigarette was first to awaken her senses. Widened pupils slid about their sockets, striving to collect traces of light. It was then that a hushed voice floated into her eardrums. She sat up slowly to eavesdrop on the stranger. Soon enough she began fumbling her fingers against her messy night stand in search of her cigarettes. By the time Reverie found it and gently lifted one from its place in the pack, she was wide awake. Anger surged into her concepts. How would she ever fall back asleep now? Her hands pushed her onto wobbly short legs. She snatched the lighter from amongst the clutter on her tiny table while walking over to the bed where she barely could make out the image of a woman sitting upright. This unfamiliar being seemed to rock herself in the typical manner that a crazy person would.
A sinister smirk flashed across Reverie’s features. She enjoyed this place. So much amusement throughout the entire building! Her temper subsided quickly and she flicked the top of the blue lighter. A blaze of light and warmth ignited when the flint sparked against the metal as the fluid leaked outward. The area around Reverie instantly became illuminated, providing her eyes with an awkwardly shaded image of the stranger. “You talking in your sleep?” Her low and raspy voice questioned loudly. It was barely recognizable as a female tone since she had just woken up and not bothered clearing her throat. She leaned in close with the lighter to get a better look. Crystal blue eyes examined her face, studying the single tear trickling down her cheek and simultaneously making many different judgements about the girl. Something about this one’s eyes was off.. Reverie wasn’t one to use her brain and she simply shrugged it away. Without a care, she plopped her butt on the bed beside the crazy person causing a bouncing motion to flow across the mattress for a matter of moments. The flame lit her smoke and then went out as her thumb lifted off of the trigger. Black painted finger tips brought the cigarette’s filter to her lips, throat and lungs working together to inhale the lovely relief. “Pretty fucking rude to be talkin’ in your sleep, ya know.” She added to her first speech; smoke whirled from her mouth as she talked. Conversation was not the short girl’s strong suit. Her words were not spoken with degradation nor irritation. It was a simple statement that she felt needed to be known. And, if this older person was talking in her sleep, then perhaps she was not even awake yet..

A shuffling sound fluttered into October's ears and then a few slow steps across the floor. She could feel the person come closer to her bed, their breathing becoming sligtly louder. October stayed facing forward while the person leaned closer to her, their pressence more obvious with the shorter distance. Then a minor click snapped through the air, making her jump from the sudden sound. The warmth that followed reminded her of something. Smoke then filled her nostrils and she realized it was fire that she'd felt. Fire was something she absolutely loved. There were times in her childhood when her parents would let her sit by the firepit in their backyard. The family loved to join her, because the warmth of the fire seemed to calm her. Rose would keep quiet herself to their surprise.
"Smoking can kill you," October said softly to the unknown person. "Lung cance-." "Don't even get me started on lung cancer! It's a disgrace I tell you!" Debrah announced, quite annoyed, a small huff following her speech. The older lady wasn't one to speak up much, however, when it came to health, she was very serious about it. "Does it hurt your tummy?" Rose spoke up, a small pout forming on October's face. "No we're not asleep you dumb mother f-!" Hansen inhaled suddenly before sitting still for a few seconds. "My apologizes, Hansen isn't used to new company," October said, her normal voice soft and sweet. "I'm quite sorry if I woke you up. They're very talkative tonight." She said after a few moments of silence. Honestly, she almost couldn't control them this late at night. The stronger she was mentally and physcially, the better she can keep down Rose and Hansen. They held the most powerful energies. Hansen especially. When the anger starts coming through Octobers body, it's like she was pushed from sight. God, she needed sleep. The morning was going to be horrible, and she was sure that her roomates wouldn't appreciate Hansen in the morning. Rose and Debrah tend to fade into the shadows to stay away from his attitude. Definately the definition of a grouch. More silence followed as she wrapped herself in the blanket she was given. Fortunately, it was made of thick wool and kept off the cold chill that surrounded her. Maybe she was imagining it. Then, Rose came into view through the darkness before her eyes. She wandered close to October and looked up with a small smile. Her white curly hair was beautiful as always, her dark grey eyes sparkling as she giggled. Then, the girl turned into a wisp of air before disappearing from view. October sighed before pulling her legs up, her knees resting in front of her chest. Slowly she wrapped her arms around her lower extremities to pull them in close to her body, taking in the warmth they held. Well now, wasn’t this just a free freak show? For a second it almost seemed as if five people were sitting on the bed: the stranger’s personalities and Reverie. She persisted in taking another deep drag of her cigarette as she absorbed the situation mainly through her ears. When the core voice suggested that smoking kills, she could not help but let a chuckle escape her lips. Silly odd girl, Reverie was already dead! Or that is what she thought, anyway. There were no lungs to hold cancer. And it could not possibly hurt her tummy, since she did not possess one! The main voice was quick to apologize for the mannerisms of the others. Reverie was very entertained; she could get used to this. With the lights out and just the dim glow of her cig to illuminate a close area, it almost seemed as though there was a whole group of tolerable people here. A variety of people too, not just a certain age. The end of her smoke brightened as her lips tugged at the filter once more. A noisy deep breath provided her with more nicotine. This certainly was amusing. Finding entertainment was always her main goal and, for once, tonight it found her!
“Nah, I woulda got up no matter what.” Reverie replied, taking a glance at the glowing numbers of a clock before continuing, “Is almost 2 AM, always need a smoke ‘round now. Besides, I can‘t get lung cancer, I ain‘t got no lungs or stomach.. Can‘t hurt me at all.” She nodded her head to further emphasize the explanation. Reverie was not a standard anorexic or suicidal resident of the Asylum. She believed that she was dead and this place was a purgatory realm between Heaven and Hell. She was convinced that she had died when she rolled in the car accident and that her real body was still laying in the wreck on that gravel road. The body she had now was simply an empty putrefying vessel that would transport her to, and cage her soul in, hell. There was a bit of a pause in speech. The silence was more relaxing than awkward for Reverie. Another puff of her smoke allowed her eyelids to flutter with satisfaction. The dimly lit image of her new roomie appeared to be cold. If anything, it was too hot in here! But the seventeen year old simply shrugged before wrapping her arm around the stranger’s back to the opposite arm in a friendly manner. “Well Hansen, I’m Reverie. Who are the rest of ya? Ya‘ll might as well get used to me. You got put in my room.” This was the first person that she had ever offered her name to so quickly. Something about the crazy person was soothing and comforting. Normally being one to prey on the weak; this was an interesting situation for her. Not knowing of the fellow human’s blindness would be beneficial for now.
Reverie’s hand, that belonged to the arm which easily stretched around the stranger’s thin body, rubbed the girl’s upper arm then patted her shoulder blade before withdrawing to its own personal space once more. This was a very significant gesture to be performed. Affectionate physical contact was rare from this delusional delinquent. She felt very awkward after doing so, and slightly wiggled her body away from the other afterwards. Her eyes flickered to the open window. Perhaps that’s why the other girl found it a bit chilled in here? A shrug rolled through her shoulders at the thought. The peculiar woman could most certainly close the damned window herself!

Rose's sudden curiousity and positive energy caused a shiver to travel down her body again. The change from Hansen and Debrah wasn't as durastic in energy as Rose was. With someone so good and innocent, it was hard to not be physically affected. Something in the pit of her stomach began to hurt, from what, she didn't know. October wasn't used to this kind of reaction. "No tummy? No luugs? October, what are luugs?" A small sigh escaped as October paused to answer her question, but through her thoughts. Talking through voice wasn't the only way of communication October had, but for the other three, they tended to talk aloud. Maybe because they liked the control, October didn't know for sure. "Oh, okay!"
October opened her mouth and Rose giggled in her cute little girl way. "Oooo Oooo Oooo, me first! I'm Rose," the little girl said excitedly, goosebumps rolling along October's skin. "I'm Hansen, what's it to you?" he said stubbornly, October's eyebrows lowering as if to question the air. "Oh, don't mind him. He gets a little cranky when he doesn't get his sleep. I'm Debrah deary," the older lady said, her tone soft and kind. October took in a deep staggering breath and coughed from the sudden inhalation. "I'm October. I was sent here yesterday."
The sounds of the other girl's movements worried her slightly, not know who this person was even though she knew the stranger's name. Skin to skin contact was a bit unusual to October and when she felt Reverie touch her arm, the muscles in her body tensed instantly. Once Reverie moved out of her personal space, October slowly loosened her body muscles, but another shiver moved through her arms, the breeze making it colder than she expected. Was there an open window in the room? "Would it be too much to ask to shut the window? I haven't gotten used to the feeling of the room yet." October paused before speaking again, a little hesitant. "Nevermind. I'll get it. Whether it's light or dark out, it wouldn't matter. Might as well try now." Debrah moved the blanket off of October's body and she thanked the older woman. Debrah was always nice with gestures and manners, something that October appreciated greatly.
The cold from the air had changed the temperature of the floor below, because once October set her feet on the ground she shook. Her hand felt the wood at the end of the bed and lifted herself off of the mattress. Her first few steps were unsteady because she'd been sitting for so long without stretching out her legs. Slow and steady, October moved along the floor, using her hands as a guide. Her walking stick underneath her bed. If she was to truly get used to the room, she was going to use her hands to feel around. Just about to touch something with her toes, she stopped and turned slowly away to avoid hitting it. As she took another step, Rose and Hansen came into view. The little girl bounced around the floor to her right, then grabbed October's hand pulling her to where Hansen was standing. The cold of the wind only grew stronger as her hand was pulled closer to the male's location. "Rose dear, don't pull off October's arm. Walk a little slower," Debrah said with a small chuckle. Rose then stopped pulling her arm as hard, but continued to lead her to what October presumed was the window. "Thank you Rose," October smiled at the small child then looked up at Hansen and nodded her head. "Thank you too Hansen." A few seconds later, the two of them turned into wisps and vanished from her view. Hansen then reached up and closed the window the cold chill was coming through before walking back to October's bed.

TAGGED ?! Reverie WORDS ?! 641. OUTFIT ?! outfit NOTES ?! Debrah or Hansen will question it further if it is brought up in more of an explanation. It definately would be interesting. October will warm up to Reverie faster because she tried to interact first. It's sort of a repetative comfort. Rose would love to have someone to talk with. Debrah wouldn't really appreciate Reverie's rebellious actions so that would be very exciting to see the conflict. lol CREDIT ?! RUN, DON'T WALK BETH . of CAUTION!
