- Psychosis - He sees things that aren't really there, but he doesn't actually create elaborate stories and scenarios around the objects of his visions like schizophrenics do. Simple hallucinations, that's all they are, but they're not pretty hallucinations. His mind cooks up some pretty gruesome images to taunt him with, so maybe it's a good thing that he doesn't get stuck in that 'world'. Because of that, he has erratic mood swings, and is completely unpredictable when it comes to his temper.
- Sex Addict - Eh, what can I say? The boy likes sleeping around. Although this has gotten slightly better since he entered Stanfield, he's still not giving up sex any time soon. He's not choosy when it comes to who he's screwing: if it's got a pulse, then he wants to fuck it. Simple as that.
- Drug Addict - Very self-explanatory, especially considering the clique he's in. Yami discovered drugs early on in life, and became hooked from the get-go. As did his brother (from whom he picked up the habit). But unlike Tav, he never managed to quite give them up. Anything that'll get him high will do, so he's open to options.

- Resilient - So take your best shot; I guarantee he'll bounce right back up without batting an eyelash. Growing up in the environment he'd had to made him flexible and extremely adaptable. It'll take a real shocker - and I mean out-of-this-world tragic/disastrous incident - to bring him down for any amount of time. Otherwise, don't expect this boy to just fall back complacently and lie low after taking a blow.
- Defensive/Protective - You touch his loved ones, he'll beat your ass. End of story. He may come off as a jerk with an angel's face to the general public, but like anyone out there who has half a conscience left to them, he's loyal to anyone who manages to grow on him. This includes, his siblings - the only family members he still feels anything other than hatred for - and close friends. Oh and don't think he'll forget a past wrong that's been done. Yami has a damn good memory and tends to hold grudges until he gets his piece said with the bastard he's after.
- Can hold a tune - Maybe it's a hereditary trait or something, since Tav's also a singer. Or maybe it's just coincidence. Whatever the case, yes, Yami could make a very good performer if he cared to. Too bad he doesn't, and is too drugged up half the time to care. He usually just hums to himself, or sings when he thinks that no one else is listening.
- Persuasive - The boy has quite a silver-tongue at his disposal and he uses it quite liberally. He's got a sharp eye for the things that are people's weaknesses, and he has no qualms in using that information to his advantage. It doesn't hurt any that he's got a cute face capable of making the most devastating puppy-eyes ever witnessed by mankind. Of course, this could be seen as a not-so-good point as well.
- Musically inclined - Outside of just signing, Yami also picked up some skills on the piano in his 15 years of existence. He's not phenomenal or anything like that, but he can play some simple melodies and has a tendency to make up his own pieces (not that he'll ever admit it to anyone). Also, he's pretty fair at writing songs. Those, are definitely not private though, and he'll freely show those to people.
* / NEGATIVE TRAITS[/b]
- Possessive - If something's been claimed as his, be it people or objects, you better damn well keep away from them/it for you'll have one angry little demon on your tail. He doesn't like people touching what he considers to be personal and/or private, and while he's okay sharing belongings, if you start getting overly grabby, it won't be pretty for you.
- Jerk - Plain and simple, he's a jerk most of the time. Yami doesn't like feeling vulnerable to anything, and has a definite dislike for people he sees as 'weak'. So what does he do? He makes their life miserable, just because he can. If you have something he wants, he'll take it from you one way or another; if you annoy him, he'll tell you off without a second's hesitation; if he sees someone having a good day while his is just shitty, he'll ruin theirs just to make himself feel a little better. It's just how he is.
- Unpredictable - Not just because of his psychosis; he's naturally moody. Yami can go from super-happy-peppy-high to crash-and-burn-pissed in about two seconds flat. It makes him very volatile company, and anyone who wants to be close to him had better watch their steps....carefully. He does calm down a bit around those he's more familiar with, so the swings aren't as bad when he's with say, his brother.
- Totally not dedicated - Can't you tell? He doesn't like getting stuck in long-term relationships (romantic ones that is) with anyone, so yeah, don't expect him to hang around. A one-night stand's about the best you'll get out of him. Couples annoy him, and love is but a flimsy word to be flung about casually. (Even if he did fall for someone, I've a feeling he'd just keep on denying it and trying to convince himself that they're just another temporary fling)
- Sloth - Yamato is lazy, as lazy as they come, and will absolutely refuse to do anything worthwhile. In fact, it's unlikely he could TRY to do anything productive even if his life depended on it (okay so that's a stretch, but you get the point). You want a favor done, you better have a damn good reason for why he ought to do it for you, or have some sort of a bribe up your sleeve. His favorite pastime? Born in Kyoto, Japan to an odd couple, Yami’s life from the beginning was destined to be a weirdly wired one. His mother died not long after giving birth to him, leaving him with no impression of her at all - not her face, her voice, not anything; she was a blank to him - and in the care of his father. Not even half a year after he’d laid his recently dead wife to rest, Kaito Susume, with his newborn son in tow, returned to his old spouse’s side. So Yami was introduced to a strange, blonde, Japanese boy who he later learned was his older half-brother. For a time he idolized Tav, and toddled after him everywhere he went, trying to imitate him and do what he did. While Tav knew of their parents’...relationships, Yami remained perfectly oblivious to their behavior and was happily passing the days clinging to his nii-san. Two years later, the world for him began to collapse.

Right after he turned two years old, Yami became witness to the first in a couple of murders he’d see. His uncle - seemingly in a moment of madness - killed his father right before the latter’s pregnant wife and sons. No one knew why he did it, no one would ever know, since the only three people who saw the act were either dead, or locked up and labeled as mentally unstable. To add to the ensuing chaos, Misaku came into the world a couple days later. Her arrival directed his step-mother’s attention entirely onto the little girl and left him and Tav with Kazuki for a guardian. Yami never suspected anything was wrong with his older brother at this point. Tavius was still the same Tavius, and the younger boy was completely in the dark about any abuse that may have been raining down on his nii-chan by their god-father’s hands. It took a few more years before he was finally enlightened to the horrors that occurred behind his back.

Aged four, his step-mom died. Yami wasn’t particularly affected, since he’d never been able to truly become close to the woman, but he could tell that this wasn’t the case for his step-dad or Tav. So he kept out of their way and let them have their space to grieve for someone he’d barely knew, forget learned to love. He accepted his Kankuro’s attentions and niceties, but still remained closest to his brother. Perhaps that was why, when Tav began to use drugs, Yamato started as well only a year after. He liked getting high; it emptied his mind of all his troubles and made him feel like he was floating on clouds. It was harmless fun...until that accident had to happen.

It was the last straw so to speak, and catalyzed Yami’s deterioration from reality. Tav claimed not to remember how the boy had died, and he probably didn’t since he was the one who’d been the most stoned at the time. But Yami did; he was sober enough to be consciously aware of just what took the boy’s life. Their little party of crack-heads had been sitting at the opening of an alleyway, smoking and daring each other to do things that became increasingly dangerous the more the drugs got to their brains. Finally, Tav made the suggestion that one of them climb up the fire escape of a nearby building, until they reached the roof. And from there, they’d try and jump across the gap to the roof of the apartment complex next door. Had any of them been thinking straight, they would’ve known that the area of empty air was too large for anyone to cross by manpower alone; sadly, none of them had been able to note that fact. Haruto Kakashi volunteered to do it and...well, let’s just say that the way his neck was twisted when they found the body a day later showed exactly how he’d met his end.

The night of the incident, Yami lost it. His mind just couldn’t take it anymore and snapped in half. He began to see things that weren’t there; horrible, gruesome specters who were always pointing their fingers at him, accusing him with their empty eyes. Their leader, the one that showed up most often to haunt him, was the image of Haruto, neck bent and skull busted open. It was starting then that Yami began to hate Tavius for what he’d done.

The antagonism wasn’t a constant thing. He still loved his nii-chan, but whenever the ghosts visited him, he forgot about that side of him and became a devil towards his sibling. As an outlet for the pent up anger, he attacked Tav in ways he’d never have thought to in the past. By the time that he was fourteen and Tav fifteen, Yami had raped his older brother four times and probably would’ve continued had noa not interfered. For the next year, while his brother was missing from home, Yami’s behavior went from bad to worse. He never quit using the drugs, and he began to sleep around with both boys and girls. He didn’t care anymore, and since Kazuki didn’t bother him about it, he didn’t see any reason for him to hold back. After he was sent to Stanfield, Yami’s sex addiction has slowed down some, but it hasn’t let up entirely. And since he's learned that Tav's been transferred here as well...[/size][/blockquote][/blockquote]
