A scream emitted from the girls mouth before she awoke nearly hyperventilating. Bringing her knees up to her moving chest she was almost crying from the nightmare. Well, she was right when she told Jamie that she would likely be up around 4/5 in the morning. She had managed 4:27. Groans emitted from her fellow occupants, throwing of pillows, and "Elly, go back to sleep-the nightmares aren't real". Elly blushed a bit and tried to get her breathing back to normal. It was terrifying ,as usual, but it changed surprisingly. Instead of just her dying or her close people; they all died, but her ghost was the one that remained on Earth while the rest went where ever. The pain of loneliness continued to go through her frail body; it made her shiver. Sighing, Elly stretched her tight muscles and thought about what she'd wear outside to garden. The frail being went to her closet and searched for something suitable. Eyes skimming she grabbed a pair of black jeans and a long sleeved blue sweater. The girl pulled on her sneakers then headed out to the shed that held her gardening tools.
Elyze actually had her very own corner because of all the work she did on the grounds; which had made her happy to be blunt. The bucket held everything she needed so she headed out to another spot of the grounds that seriously needed some help. "This is gross, why leave your crack pipe out here? So many germs..." The girl shivered and pulled out some gloves and a paper towel to grab the pipe. She placed it in the bucket carefully with the gloves and the towel. With her luck it was probably her coming companion. Her mind then started wandering as it normally would while she fixed up the gardens. Adding flowers here and there, pulling weeds and throwing the garbage in her bucket. A light tune began to escape Elly's lips as she continued her work. She continued to hum while her thoughts wondered over to Riley. She hoped he would really come even though it was obvious that he wasn't into it. Though, he seemed like he needed something to relax him and make his mind wonder like hers. "Almost done with this patch and then I'll plant some...you know, I have no idea what to plant today. Maybe Riley will have an idea." The endless weeding continued along with the flowing song.

Worthless...pointless....waste of space...Riley rolled over, turning onto his side in his bed, but it didn't help. Idiot...why bother...what's the point...Sighing under his breath, Riley sat up, running his hands down his face. His eyes were burning with tiredness and he wanted nothing more than to sleep, but he knew he couldn't. The voices were always so much worse at night, and tonight was no different. He glanced at the clock on the wall, seeing that it was nearly four thirty in the morning. That was it? He thought it was later than that, but then again he had been tossing and turning all night with the voices telling him what a waste of space he was. Grumbling and trying his best to ignore them, Riley got out of his bed and pulled on his sneakers, wearing nothing but his pajama bottoms and a hooded sweatshirt as he made his way outside.
Why he had agreed to go outside at this time to see Elly, he was not completely sure, but having a friend that everyone else could see was a nice change of pace, at least to him. He stuffed his hands into the front pocket of his sweatshirt, going down the steps to the lawns outside, making his way to gardens, where he heard someone singing. Someone, of course, being Elly. He reached into his pockets for a cigarette, but realized that he had forgotten them in his room. "For fuck's sake!" he swore. He wanted--needed--nicotine. He needed something in his system or else he would lose it, and it was too early to go and get his meds from the infirmary to help take some of the edge off of the voices to make them more tolerable. Going over to Elly, he stood over her, watching her and wishing that he had something to help. "What are you doing?" [/color]he asked, needing a distracting.

A shadow covered the tiny girl that shivered. Thoughts racing she stayed still just in case it wasn't Jamie. Something about shadows and not actually hearing people come up to bothered Elly. Shocker...The stiff girl waited for what seemed minutes but was really only a few seconds. "What are you doing?"
She sighed and turned to the boy. A small smile spread across her face and rolled her eyes. Isn't it obvious; she was gardening. Pulling weeds to be exact but nonetheless part of the gardening process. "I'm weeding out a garden and was waiting for you. I'm surprised you actually made it," a giggle escaped her pink lips. The giggle stopped suddenly when she looked at his eyes. It was obvious that he had no sleep but something else was wrong. Elly tilted her head slightly in wonder; what was going on in his head? "You need sleep." With that she stood up with the unwanted weeds and walked over to her bucket and tools. It was an obvious observant that anyone would do; even himself, but she was still very curious on what was going on. Leaning down Elly let go of the pests and picked up a pair of gloves; he was going to need them.
The gloves were tossed to Riley right before the tiny girl went back to inspect her job. OCD kicking in a bit she examined closely and picked out tiny pieces out from her garden. " It's a good day to garden, don't you think?" She asked and looked over to her companion. It was obvious that he wasn't that into the flower thing but it was something to do and distract him. Riley still looked a bit distant to her but Elyze brushed it off. An unsure feeling hit the pit of her stomach; should she ask what's wrong or not? The sound of hand hitting forehead came with a 'grrr'. Stop over thinking you dummy! She thought and placed a smile back to her face. "Did you say something?" Elly really didn't know if he did but it was always a good way to start up a conversation and distract the two of them as they worked.

God, he wanted a cigarette so badly. His hands were twitching and fingers were constantly moving at his side. He could also feel the need for a fix rising in him. His muscles were starting to hurt and he was getting a headache, though that might be because he had literally been yapped at all night.
He knew that it was obvious what she was doing, but he wanted to hear a real voice instead of the ones in his head that refused to leave him alone long enough for a good night's sleep. Though to be honest, Riley was not even sure what that was. He had had this condition since he was born. Even as a baby he would wake up screaming until someone picked him up and tried to comfort him, and it was even worse when he was a toddler and young child and could not nap like the other kids. "I can see that," he muttered, running a hand over his eyes to help wake up him. Not that it would help much but every little bit counted. He shrugged, laughing bitterly under his breath. "I thought I told you I don't sleep?" She handed him a pair of gloves and, reluctantly, Riley pulled them on. He had no idea what to do in a garden. He had lived in a shitty little house in the middle of South Boston and that meant there was little to no yards anywhere in sight. And it was not as though he would get anything to grow anyway. But hey, it was either this or lay in silent agony for a few more hours. "It's like, 5 in the morning," he muttered. The sun was only just starting to peek up over the horizon. Riley dropped to his knees at her side, toying half-heartedly with the earth at his feet. "I didn't say anything."

A look of concern was evident on her face even though she tried to hide it. The boy seemed like he was in pain and desperately wanted and needed the sleep. Any normal person would be asleep at this hour but the two of them seemed to be a bit odd. She spat at her thought of 'normal people'; what makes them so perfect- maybe the people in the Asylum really were the normal ones. A grimace crossed her face while having another inner battle. The conscience of the girl was telling her that it all was going to be alright while her mind was telling her that it was all a facade to help her keep going in life. A shake of her head and the thoughts dispersed. Elly was going to have to work on keeping her battles down while around company. The twitching of the boy’s fingers and his bouncy-ness, if that's what you wish to call it, was starting to bother the girl. She knew it was because of his issues, it was all too obvious to her. Elly heard his soft, humorless laugh and nearly shuddered. It wasn't surprising that he would laugh at that; she would have as well considering she rarely slept herself. The girl contemplated on what to say in reply. A silent gulp and then answered the boy’s question. " I know you don't sleep but that doesn't mean you don't need it. Didn't people tell you that sleep is an important aspect in life? I hate it myself but I still try to sleep. The last part was deathly quiet as if it pained her to say it. It was a pain in the ass for her to sleep; the nightmares and just laying still didn't work well with Elly.
She continued her work and waited for the boy to join her or leave. Elly knew it was likely he was going to leave and probably go get cancer sticks. He needs to stop that or he'll likely die from them. Elly thought ruthlessly. Her face still held the dark look until she turned it blank. It was the best way for her to look and not scare him off or make him think she's even crazier than what Elly already was. But a small glimmer of good just happened to pass by her that moment. A small smile arrived on her face with him making a small comment and joining her down on the ground. "I do realize it's early in the morning but it really is the best time to garden for me. I would likely burn if I stayed out here too long when the sun was out. Elly continued on like nothing was happening.
"Did you say something?" "I didn't say anything." She really did think she heard someone speak a moment ago, it must have been her imagination. She shook her head at her silliness and looked over to the boy. He was playing with the dirt like a five year old; wanting to help but had no idea what the hell to do. Elly continued to watch him and stopped weeding herself. He really must have no idea what to do... A sigh escaped her while she got up to retrieve a couple new bulbs and trowels. " Alright, since it's all weeded now we need to plant some new flowers. We're planting some Rhod-de-de-. Fuck it." She tried to say the flower name but stuttered with difficulty. Elly quietly and quickly said the last part before continuing. "We call them Rhodies where I come from. So we need to make a hole for the bulbs; don't make it too big nor too small alright?" The tiny girl said and gave him the trowel. It was a bit fun to boss him around for some reason and also to have an upper hand. He seemed to be someone people normally evaded and listened to. Elly started digging her hole about two feet away and hummed as she did. Another habit that she would need to break sooner or later.
